Persons working directly with children are mandated reporters and by law required to report suspected child abuse. Training on how to prevent child abuse and keep kids safe is offered at no cost to mandated reporters and to community members
Child Help Speak Up and Be Safe (SUBS)
The school-based, child safety program addresses child abuse, bullying, cyber-bullying and sexual harassment prevention. Lessons are available for 1st-6th grade students.
Baby Bags
When new parents leave hospitals in Contra Costa County, we provide them with a baby bag with useful and important information about child development and child safety.
Nurturing Parenting Program
A comprehensive, research-based, culturally relevant parent education program for families with young children. The Nurturing Parenting Program addresses the Five Protective Factors that build on family strengths and promote optimal child development and reduces the risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect.
Parent/Youth Partners
Parent Partners serve as mentors to parents working through the child welfare system to reunite with their children and break-the-cycle of child abuse. Youth Partners mentor foster youth and provide support, education on their rights and responsibilities and resources to help facilitate favorable outcomes for these young persons. Our Mental Health Advocate connects parents and caregivers with appropriate mental health services for kids in their care and advocates to assure children’s mental health needs are being met appropriately within the systems. Our Caregiver Liaison helps foster care placements be successful by connecting caretakers to resources in the community.
Sue Fleischner Special Needs Fund
Provides families with support and resources in an effort to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. Referrals to the Special Needs Fund are available to service providers working directly with families in need.
