When parents welcome a new baby into the family they are often in need of support and education regarding parenting, the most important job any of us will ever do. CAPC developed the Baby Bag/New Parent Kit to meet this critical need. The Baby Bag/New Parent Kit provides a wealth of useful tips and resources to both parents and caregivers, including a developmental growth chart, child safety information and CAPC’s Surviving Parenting Resource Directory.

Baby Bag During the fiscal year 2022/2023, CAPC distributed a total of 5675 Baby Bags in English to participating hospitals and clinics throughout Contra Costa County and 3480 Baby Bags in Spanish for a total of 9155. A Surviving Parenthood Resource Directory was included in each Baby Bag distributed. In addition to local hospitals and clinics, CAPC developed partnerships with the following agencies:

  • Contra Costa Health Plan – Perinatal Case Manager
  • Bay Area Crisis Nursery
  • La Clinica Monument
  • Birthright Pregnancy Support Center
  • Loma Vista Adult Education Program
  • Walnut Creek Kaiser Permanente and Antioch Kaiser Permanente (newly added this year)
