You may need relief, advice, special support, or an understanding ear. The following programs offer a wide range of intervention and support services.

211 provides callers with information about and referrals to human services for everyday needs and in times of crisis. This easy to remember telephone number connects callers to critical health and human services available in their communities. For example, 211 can offer access to the following types of services: food banks, clothing closets, shelters, rent assistance, health insurance programs, Medicaid, and Medicare, support groups, counseling, education programs, and more.

Bay Area Crisis Nursery

The Bay Area Crisis Nursery provides free emergency childcare services daily from 7AM – 7PM. Parents can enroll for full day or hourly care. The Nursery also provides short-term emergency shelter services for up to 30 days and respite services allowing parents a 1-2 day stay monthly.

Supplies 211 information and referrals and manages the countywide online resource database. Provides individual and group grief support and counseling to adults and children mourning the death of a loved one. Language line available for over 140 languages. All services are free and available 24/7.

Safe Refuge for Children and Families

Provides temporary screened, safe, and loving homes where parents may voluntarily have their children cared for during a family crisis. Crisis situations may include homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, drug addiction, sickness, hospitalization, or any other crisis circumstance that makes it difficult for the parents to care for their children. This is a voluntary program and the families in crisis always retain all of their parental rights and custody. We partner with families to provide respite, support, and encouragement while they navigate crisis situations. Services provided in English and Spanish. Services are free.
